ADOLPHUS BUSCH IS ASKED TO BUILD THE FIRST GRAND HOTEL IN THE HEART OF DALLAS. ARCHITECTS WERE COMMISSIONED TO DESIGN THE BUILDING IN THE STYLE OF THE ECOLE DE BEAUX ARTS, FOR AN ORIGINAL COST OF $1,870,000. ON OCTOBER 5TH, 1912, THE ADOLPHUS OPENED THE DOORS TO ITS GUESTS.

THE CENTURY ROOM OPENED AND BECAME A NATIONAL SENSATION IN THE ERA OF BIG BANDS AND BOOTLEGGED WHISKEY. TOP-TIER ENTERTAINERS INCLUDING THE ANDREWS SISTERS, TONY BENNETT, BENNY GOODMAN, HARRY JAMES, AND TOMMY AND JIMMY DORSEY WERE BROUGHT IN TO PERFORM TO STANDING-ROOM ONLY AUDIENCES.
